April Fun

Last week Megan participated in her school museum.  She dressed up like Amelia Earhart and presented a 1 minute memorized speech while standing in front of her poster.  Megan is a pretty shy girl so I am so impressed that she gave her speech to lots of people she didn’t know at the museum.  Her teacher even gave her a “4” on her speech which is the best grade possible.

We enjoyed a nice dinner after the baptism where Nathan had fun sitting by his cousin.
Then most of the kids went down to the basement for a dance party.  I think we need to get one of those disco lights too, it makes everything more fun.
I planted this forget me not flower last year after President Echtdorf’s talk but it hardly bloomed at all.  This year it has so many blossoms.  I love it!
A few years ago I planted this yellow flower in my flower pot out front.  It comes back every year and is just so bright and cheerful.  Can you tell which child likes to pose for pictures and which one
does not?


Emily celebrated her 13th birthday with a party at my parent’s house.  It was a sleepover and my parents cleaned up their 3rd floor playroom so nicely in preparation for it.

It was an exciting party complete with silly loud girls and two computer babies (for a home living class at the middle school)  that woke up several times during the night.

Today I am thankful that:
*Emily’s birthday party is over.  Preparing for birthday parties always stresses me out.

*Nathan is my little buddy.  We don’t agree on everything but he sure likes making muffins with me.  He is a good little helper.


*After bringing home 12 different pillows (and hearing everyone’s opinions) I settled on these 2 pillows to go with my bright new wall-hanging. A yellow one for the chair on the left and a floral one for the chair on the right.   Fortunately Target, Kohl's, and Pier One Imports had no problem with me returning the pillows I didn’t want.

Spring Break 2013

 

Monday-We went to Seattle where we went to the Pacific Science Center and the Aquarium.

Here’s the crew from my perspective as Mom.  Scott took the day off to go with us.

Nathan really liked the tide pools where he could touch sea creatures.

So did these guys.

Melissa kept avoiding pictures but wanted me to snap this one of her relaxing on the otter bench.

Tuesday-I took Holly and Emily shopping at the mall and Scott took the little kids to the movie the Croods.They really liked it.

Wednesday-These sweeties went grocery shopping with me and used their own money to buy a new webkinz stuffed animal (only $5 at Fred Meyer but the selection is limited).  They both chose the same Koala one. 

We worked hard on Megan’s Amelia Earhart poster and finally got it done.  Did you know she disappeared on her trip around the world?  I always thought it was on her trip across the Atlantic Ocean.

Thursday-we visited Grandma and Grandpa Moulton’s house and helped them organize their playroom.  We found this cool Magic Eye picture of the Statue of Liberty.  My 4 year old Nathan saw the 3D image right away but it took the rest of us several minutes.  We liked the picture and grandma said we could bring it home with us.

                          

Emily went with her friend to Chelan, Washington for a few days so I let Holly have a sleepover with her friend.  They set up our two man tent in the backyard and had a lot of fun.  They watched TV programs while eating snacks in the tent until the wee hours of the morning.

Friday-we put on our coats and went to the park.  It was a cold day but we had fun there with Grandma and Grandpa and our two cousins that they were babysitting.

Friday night the little girls wanted a turn to sleep in the tent so Holly set it up for them in their room.

They had a great time sleeping in it and were nice and warm unlike Holly and her friend who slept in it outside.

Saturday-we attended the baptism of my nephew Grant.  We are happy to live close to family so we can be there for special events such as this.  We enjoyed a BBQ dinner at my brother’s house after the baptism.

Melissa's Birthday and Easter

It has been sunny and warm in Washington and our flowers are in full bloom.  Holly took these sweet up close pictures of some of her favorite flowers.

Melissa celebrated her 7th birthday over the weekend and invited four of her classmates to her party.  We went with a rainbow theme.  We did two art projects, played outside, ate pizza, and had decorated brownie bites for the treat.

We went to our new neighborhood park and I had the girls pose on a bench together.  One of Melissa's friends jumped from the bench and pulled this pose just as I shot the picture.  Awesome!

Easter morning at our house.  Lots of eggs and candy.  Nathan hardly ate any real food on Sunday he was so stuffed with candy.

Nathan with his basket of sports eggs.  We label each of the eggs for our kids so they all get the same amount of candy. 

This week I am thankful that:
*Scott took Holly out driving.  I did it last week and it made me very nervous.
*Melissa and Megan dressed up as one eyed one horned flying purple people eaters and sang us the song.

*I found this cute canvas picture at Fred Meyer and now I am inspired to do a mini makeover on our front room.  I will  be throwing out our old neutral pillows and bringing in some new bright ones to match the picture.
