Two Problems Solved

Last week a package arrived in the mail for me from Disneyland. It was my phone that I lost while riding the Thunder Mountain Railroad a few weeks ago. Hurray! It got turned into the lost and found and since I had filled out paperwork on it and called they were able to get it returned to me.
Here is my little red phone, I missed it while it was gone.
On Saturday I went to a pirate themed baby shower for my sister-in-law Emily. My mom and I drove to the shower together. Two of my other sisters-in-law were there too, so it was lots of fun. When I returned home this is what I saw.
Scott had emptied out the cupboard beneath the sink and had successfully installed a new kitchen faucet. What a happy surprise. The faucet we had was doing poorly. We had super glued on the handle twice and when we turned it off water would still drip out. Here is the old faucet.
I was in charge of putting the things back under the sink and yes, it is now a lot more organized that it had been.
And here is the new faucet and squirter. This new one moves so smoothly and when we turn it off it stays off. NICE!
Today I am thankful for
*Holly who made us lunch after church (Pancakes) and had Melissa and Nathan be her helpers. They loved it.

A Heart Full of Photos

Do any of you still have a wall of Christmas cards? I just love getting Christmas cards from family and friends and I have a hard time taking them down once Christmas is over.
So I decided to make them into a heart for Valentines day. First I taped some pieces of newspaper together and then I cut it into a big heart.
Then I cut out just the outline of the heart and taped it on the wall.
I filled it with photos.
Then removed the newspaper outline.
I added a few hearts to make it more festive. Now I can keep up the cards for at least another month.

Today I am thankful for the great talk I read in the BYU magazine called His Grace is Sufficient by Brad Wilcox, given on July 12, 2011. It is available for reading or listening to online. I have had a hard time grasping the atonement and this talk just said it all in a way that I could grasp. I wish I had read this talk before I taught the atonement lesson in YW at the beginning on January. If you haven't read it you really should.

A week of snow

The first day of snow was very exciting. We made paper snowflakes for the window.
And made five snowmen in the back yard, one for each child in our family.
The second day of snow brought more new snow. Nathan thought it would be fun to throw snowballs at his sisters but when they threw one at him that made him mad.
Scott was stuck working from home since the roads were too snowy for driving on. He took a break in the afternoon and helped us with our snowfort in the backyard. He added a fun slide off the side of the fort.
On the third day of snow I made a upside down snowman in the front yard. It turned out cute but was definately more difficult to make than rightside up snowman are.
Our fourth day of snow we lost power. Luckily Holly decided this was a good day to give all her polly pocket toys to her younger sisters. It kept them busy for hours.
At night the power was still out and the kids built lego houses to flashlight.
Luckily we had saved one of our cord phones (that didn't require electricity to run) so we had a way to call people when we didn't have power.
Three snow days later and after a lot of rain to help melt the snow, we are able to drive on the roads again. We only received about 6 inches of snow but we also got 1 inch of freezing rain which only made things worse. We are happy we were only without power for 17 hours.

Today I am thankful for:
*$5 a bundle tulips. I bought some at Safeway and have loved seeing them bloom on my kitchen table while it is still a winter wonderland outside.
*Ward conference Sunday which was today. I learn a lot and I get a break from my ward YW calling.
*Nathan has a sweet Sunbeam teacher that took him to class today (in his grumpy mood) and let me go to my class.

Disneyland Fun

Last week we went to Disneyland. We pulled the kids out of school for 3 days and flew to CA with my parents. The lines were very short at Disneyland and we were able to ride all the things we wanted to on the first two days. My Aunt Kathy had sent us all Disney shirts and the kids all wore theirs on the same day. I took this picture of them wearing the shirts at breakfast before they got the shirts dirty and before they were feeling tired (and then would refuse to smile). We only had one set of ears so I made Melissa some Minnie Mouse ears out of her hair.
Scott and I rode Space Mountain together. It was kind of scary but mostly just dark. I don't know if some lights were broken on it or what but I didn't like it. At least we weren't as freaked out as the lady at the front of our car. I wonder if she meant to make that face?
We got our picture with lots of characters because the lines were short, here we are with Goofy.
Scott and I took our three big kids with us on Splash Mountain. As you can see I turned my head on the big drop.
The next day we rode the ride with Grandma twice. The second time we were prepared for the drop and did not close our eyes. Check out my mom. She was so brave she even lifted her arms. Unfortunately I got very wet and my watch got water under it's glass. Today I'm trying to dry it out with rice, I'll let you know if it works.
It was in the 70's all three days we were at Disneyland. We were often squinting in the pictures, as you can see from the photo below. I just love the mickey mouse flower shape behind us.

Today I am thankful for

*snow--we finally have enough to play in and there is no school so all my kids are home to enjoy it.

*naps-Nathan is taking a nap as I type. He is always so angry before his nap but when he wakes up he is happy again.

*legos-we have a lot of them and my kids are having a great time building lego houses today. For Christmas we bought 5 big green lego boards for building on so each child would have their own.

A new baby in the family

Last week my brother Andrew's wife had a new baby. It was their second child and their second boy. Look how excited his big brother looks! This baby makes 15 Moulton grandchildren for my parents and all 15 live here in the Seattle area.
This picture was taken right before the baby headed home from the hospital. He is long and skinny.

Once my brother and his family was home from the hospital we headed over to visit them and meet their new addition. My girls kept wanting to hold him. Nathan was more interested in playing with his cousin's toys.

I think Melissa held him 3 or 4 times. She really loves the little guy.

Then all four of my girls got into their cousin's "condo". Boxes can be so much fun.

Today I am thankful that

*My YW lesson about the Atonement on Sunday went well and is now over.

*Emily got to have her first Beauty and the Beast Musical practice. She was a little nervous singing in front of everyone (the boy playing Gaston was nervous about singing too) but they both did great. I can't wait to see the performance on March 22nd and 23rd.

*Our neighbor's tree that fell down in the windstorm didn't hurt either of our houses or fences.

After Christmas Fun

We loved having Scott's parents visit us over Christmas break. Since the weather was so clear we took them to nearby Snoqualmie Falls the day after Christmas.
Scott and his Dad enjoyed watching some football games together.
And of course the girls loved playing card games with their Grandma and Grandpa.

We got a new Lego Christmas set for Christmas to go with the toys shop we already had. This photo shows the toy shop in the back and our new ice rink in the front.

Here is the new bakery and wagon. Holly, Emily, and I put everything together.

I made some new years candy cane cookies. I found the recipe on pinterest and they cookies were delicious.

We got hail on Dec 30th and the kids went out in the dark to play in it. We haven't had any snow this winter and hail is the next best thing.

They made a small "hailman".

On News Eve we went to a ward party where we rang in the New Year with NYC at 9pm. Then we came home and worked on a puzzle. We didn't quite finish it by midnight but it was easily finished the next morning. We have decided 500 piece puzzles are definately the way to go. This puzzle is of Seattle.

On New Years day we pulled out a second puzzle--this one is of South Beach Florida.
