Holly is in her high school marching band this year.  This is a link to her playing at a football game half time show.  She is in the back middle of the group playing the flute.  Her hair is in a ponytail.  This is only 1 1/2 minutes and fun to watch.

Fun old pictures and fun at the farm

I was looking at pictures from 2004, when we first got a digital camera, and found these sweet shots.  Now that Holly and Emily are older it is hard to remember them as the little, sweet kids shown in this picture.  Little Megan is our big 8 year old who is always doing cartwheels and the spits now.

Christmas 2004.  Our first good Christmas photo.  I remember we took about 20 shots of these three in front of the tree to get this nice one.

Last week I got to help at Nathan's preschool.  There are always lots of fun things to do inside the preschool but when we get to go outside it is especially fun.  Here is Nathan with his preschool buddy.

 These goats were very friendly and they wanted a close up picture.

The pig named Wilbur is always fun to look at but he doesn't have much hair anymore and is quite chubby.

 These kids thought it would be fun to put themselves in a cage.  Silly Kids!

This week I am thankful that:

*My friend had a birthday and we all got to celebrate with her at Claim Jumper for lunch.

*Nathan is my daytime buddy.  He is only buddies with Scott when Scott is home.  Here is Nathan ready to help me check out our books at the library.

*Today a container truck is parked across the street from our house because we just got new neighbors and they are from China.  I was hoping some really cool Chinese stuff would come out of the container but so far its just boxes.  I guess all the cool stuff is inside the boxes.  I'll have to go visit once they get all moved in.

Halloween here we come!

This week we decorated our house for Halloween.  The spider web went up on the front porch.  We added a new bigger hairy spider this year.

The pumpkin yard stakes were set out.

I took all the photos off of this bookshelf and filled it with fun Halloween decorations.  I made the paper pumpkin and paper black cat on the bottom shelf 2 years ago.

I set out my very favorite decoration, this wooden ghost display.  I made this, the first Halloween after I was married, at a Relief Society activity at the church. 

 Our mantel decorations went up.

 And of course my felt cookies were put out on display.

 This week I am thankful that:
*Emily is having a fun time being part of her school's badminton team.

 *There are fun Halloween decorations to see as I take my weekly walks.

 *We had Young Women's in Excellence and Emily got to sing a song with her two friends.

 Scott told them to act surprised for this photo.  Cute, right?

 *We harvested our carrots that we grew in a pot in our backyard.

 *We washed them and ate them.  They were delicious.  The hardest part was trying to peel such short carrots.

Halloween cookies that last forever

In February 2011 I saw some cute felt Valentines cookies on a blog (Pamela Susan) and decided to make some of  my own.  They didn't cost much to make and were a perfect Valentines decoration.

Then a few months later it was Easter and I decided to make some Easter cookies out of felt.

 This fall I was in the mood for crafting so I decided to make some felt Halloween cookies.  I looked for Halloween cookie ideas on Pinterest.  That website is full of ideas for everything.  I printed out my favorites.

 Then I cut out patterns for my cookies.

 And cut the cookies out of felt.

 It took me a week but the cookies are done, and I can enjoy them all month and then again next year.

 Today I am thankful that:
*My parents are having a fun time on their North Eastern states trip.  In honor of their trip on Sunday we put together a puzzle that features the coast of Maine.  We are still working on the sky.  All the pieces look the same so it is really tricky.

 *My visiting teacher dropped off a pear pie at my house. I love surprise treats!

*For my children.  I am so glad that I have them and I'm trying hard to not complain about them.  They are some of my greatest blessings.
