Masks, Twins, and a Dollhouse show

Each year the high school Spanish language classes have to complete an art project.  This year they had to make a mask from a country that speaks Spanish. It was a big pain but we got it done. Emily made a monkey mask from Gautamala and Holly made a mask from El Salvador.  I helped them to make the face form with tin foil and we used common household common ojects to get just the right shape. Then over the course of a week they put 4 coats of paper mache on it.  The first 3 coats were with newspaper and the last coat was white printer paper.  They worked very hard on them.

When they took their masks to school they both told me that theirs were definitely some of the best. Some of the other people only had one coat of paper mache and didn't look anything like the mask picture they were trying to recreate.  

Everyone had to paint their masks at school during their language class.   Here is a picture of my girls' completed masks. 

 Last week the elementary school had twin day.  Nathan wore gray with his friends.

 Melissa had two of these shirts so they wore them.  Megan and her friend had matching clothes.

On Saturday Megan agreed to go with me to a miniature show.  My parents took me to one when I was young and I was excited to go to one again.  There were a few kids at the show but most of the people there were grandmas. 

 There were lots if things for sale that you can put in your dollhouse like these small potted plants.

 It is amazing that people can make flowers so small.  You can click on the picture to see it bigger.

But they aren't cheap.  In fact it is more expensive to buy some of these miniatures than it is to buy life size flowers.  The flowers in the middle front cost $48.

 We thought these were funny and that Nathan would like to see a picture of them.

 There were only a few dollhouses on display but we got a picture with one of our favorites.

 Today I am thankful that:
*We got to attend a family dinner and hold these two cute babies again.

*My kids enjoyed meeting their cousin's new rabbit.

 *Melissa got her braces off.  They gave her this big treat bag.  Isn't her smile great?  It will be so much easier to floss her teeth now.

 *I got to attend a nearby high school's production of Beauty and the Beast.  Emily went with me.

It brought back a lot of memories from 3 years ago when Emily was Belle in her elementary school musical.
